Abstract: This paper examines the impact of the North-South asymmetries on the media of the Global South through a study of the newspapers in India. For this purpose, the paper undertakes an extensive study of six popular English and Hindi newspapers in India. The study is based on the analysis of the discourse of these newspapers on terrorism in India after 9/11 and compares it to the narrative of the Global War on Terrorism emanating from the countries of the Global North. Finally, the paper points towards the need of an independent media as a responsible actor in conflict scenario, encouraging creative solutions for building and sustaining peace.
